Quarter 2 Review

-share feelings

Techniques
-Stanza is a paragraph in a poem.
-Verse is a single line in a poem.
-Line break is when one verse or line is finished and goes to the next line; skips a line between stanzas.
-Rhyme is two words that have the same suffixes in a poem; is two words that sound the same at the end of the verses.
-Rhyme Scheme is a patter of rhyme in a poem. Example: ABBA, ABCD, AABA
-Alliteration is the same sound at the beginning of words in a sentence. Example: Silly Sally saw sea shells by the seashore
-Assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds in the middle or the end.
-Consonance is the repetition of consonant sounds in the middle or the end.
-Simile is comparing two things using the words "like" or "as."
-Metaphor is comparing two things NOT using words "like" or "as."
-Hyperbole is extreme exaggeration!
-Idiom is a phrase that you DO NOT take LITERALLY! Example: Break a leg! Dead to the world. Asleep at the wheel. All in your head.
-Personification is giving a nonliving thing a human quality or trait. Example: The wind whistled. The pencil was dancing around. The cloud was crying.

-Peer Pressure-a group of people that are the same age that are trying to convince you to think or act a certain way.


-Testimonial-a personal success story.

-Repetition-the same product shown over and over; the same picture, words or phrases that are repeated


-Transfer-a set of feelings that can be positive or negative based on words or pictures


-Loaded Words-strong emotions with word(s) that can be positive or negative
