The Final Test

 The students worked really hard on this project and had fun.They learned that in order for an egg to survive, they had to put a lot of stuffing or padding inside.

Students and their egg boxes

The students had a challenge to use cardboard to build a box to protect an egg when thrown against the wall.


 
The next step, was to take a picture or two of their boxes and blog. They had to share the purpose, describe how they made it, and predict if their egg would survive.

Techniques
-Stanza is a paragraph in a poem.
-Verse is a single line in a poem.
-Line break is when one verse or line is finished and goes to the next line; skips a line between stanzas.
-Rhyme is two words that have the same suffixes in a poem; is two words that sound the same at the end of the verses.
-Rhyme Scheme is a patter of rhyme in a poem. Example: ABBA, ABCD, AABA
-Alliteration is the same sound at the beginning of words in a sentence. Example: Silly Sally saw sea shells by the seashore
-Assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds in the middle or the end.
-Consonance is the repetition of consonant sounds in the middle or the end.
-Simile is comparing two things using the words "like" or "as."
-Metaphor is comparing two things NOT using words "like" or "as."
-Hyperbole is extreme exaggeration!
-Idiom is a phrase that you DO NOT take LITERALLY! Example: Break a leg! Dead to the world. Asleep at the wheel. All in your head.
-Personification is giving a nonliving thing a human quality or trait. Example: The wind whistled. The pencil was dancing around. The cloud was crying.
